Housing Hall of Fame

The purpose of the Housing Hall of Fame is to honor the men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to the building industry in the charter area of the Huntsville Madison County Builders Association. The Award is not limited to H MCBA members. It can be given to outstanding individuals in three (3) areas:

Building Industry - Any member of the H MCBA.

Governmental Area - Elected or appointed officials who have made significant contributions to the building industry in Alabama.

Support To The Building Industry - Includes researchers, educators, trade association staff, who were/are involved in the building industry.

The following persons have been inducted into the HMCBA Housing Hall of Fame:

Builder of the Year

This award is presented each year to a builder member for his or her contributions to the association and the building industry as a whole. The criteria used in the selection process includes local and state association participation, community affairs activities, charitable activities and political action. It also includes the person’s reputation with home owners, government agencies, as a businessperson and with fellow members. It is truly an honor for any builder to be selected as the recipient.

The following persons have been awarded the HMCBA Builder of the Year:

In 1992, the Association changed the name of the award to the JERRY L. SINIARD BUILDER OF THE YEAR AWARD in honor of Jerry Siniard, a long time builder member who was very active in the association prior to his death.

Michael C. Nivens
Associate of the Year

The Michael C. Nivens Associate of the Year Award is presented each year to an associate member for his or her contributions to the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association. The criteria used in the selection process includes local association participation, either as an actual participant or as a volunteer in a special event, participating in or serving as an officer on a council or committee, devotion to the betterment of the Association and improving the industry as a whole and the person’s reputation with home owners, government agencies, as a businessperson & with fellow members. This award is named after Stephen B Williams, Max Garrison and Michael C. Nivens, all long time associate members who personified these ideals and were very active in the association prior to their retirement or death. It is truly an honor for any associate member to be selected as the recipient.

The following persons have been awarded the Michael C. Nivens Associate of the Year Award:

Woman of the Year

The Woman of the Year Award is presented each year to a Women’s Council member for her contributions to the Women’s Council and the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association. The criteria used in the selection process includes participating in or serving as an officer on the Council’s Board of Directors or committee, outstanding support and service for Council events, a devotion to the betterment of women in the Council, the Association and the industry as a whole and the person’s reputation as a businesswoman & with fellow members. It is truly an honor for any Women’s Council member to be selected as the recipient.
