HISTORY


The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association is a professional trade association dedicated to supporting its membership by promoting the building industry and improving the quality of life in the communities it serves. The association is a local chapter of the Home Builders Association of Alabama and the National Association of Home Builders. Chartered in 1957, the organization is comprised of over 1,300 member firms which include builders, remodelors, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, financial institutions, Realtors, etc. The Association provides educational opportunities during the year for its members on Building Codes, OSHA, Sales & Marketing, Customer Relations and other topics. The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association also hosts professional designation courses through the Home Builders Institute. The professional designations available are Certified Graduate Remodelor (CGR), Certified Graduate Builder (CGB),Certified Graduate Associate (CGA), Graduate Master Builder (GMB), Residential Construction Superintendent (RCS) and Certified Sales Professional (CSP). It also provides networking opportunities on a monthly basis for its members.

The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association produces the Parade of HomesTM, Spring Tour of HomesSM, and Building, Home & Remodeling ShowSM on an annual basis to promote the building industry and provide the consumer with an opportunity to view the newest in building technology.

Active in the community, the Association, through its Foundation, contributes over $10,000.00 annually in education scholarships for persons who are pursuing an education in a building industry related curriculum. In the last twenty years, the Association has donated over $109,000.00 in monetary contributions to local charitable organizations and over $150,000.00 to economic development. Additionally, the Association through its members has donated thousands of dollars in in-kind services and material donations to various charitable building projects.

For the consumer, the Association provides educational opportunities during its Building, Home & Remodeling ShowSM on How To Select a Builder, Mortgage Financing, Newest Trends in Colors, Lighting, Floor Coverings, and many more. The Association also provides consumers with a listing of its licensed contractors and subcontractors and other helpful articles, information and publications including the Official Subdivision/Builder Guide©, to assist with the purchase and construction of a new home as well as remodeling.

MISSION STATEMENT


The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association is a professional trade association dedicated to supporting its membership by promoting the building industry and improving the quality of life in the communities it serves.

OBJECTIVES


The objective of this Association is:

  • To associate home builders operating within its territorial jurisdiction for the purpose of mutual advantage and cooperation.

  • To cooperate with all branches of the home building industry, including manufacturers, dealers and financial institutions within the jurisdiction of this Association for the purpose of mutual advantage and for the benefit of the industry as a whole.

  • To maintain a Code of Ethics and encourage highly professional and sound business methods among its members.

  • To secure cooperative action in advancing the common purpose of its members; uniformity and equity in business usages and laws; and proper consideration of opinion upon questions affecting the home building industry within the jurisdiction of the Association.

  • To function as a local affiliated Association of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States within its territorial jurisdiction.

  • To assist the Officers, Board of Directors, and Membership Committee of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States in qualifying members operating within its territorial jurisdiction.
  • To assist in the accomplishment of the mutual objective of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States.

  • To participate for the purpose of mutual benefit in an interchange of information and experience with all other local affiliated Associations of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States.

CODE OF ETHICS


All active Members of this Association shall agree to observe and be bound by the following Code of Ethics:

  • MEMBERS shall constantly seek to provide better values, so that an even greater share of the people may enjoy the benefits of home ownership.

  • MEMBERS shall strive to develop the efficiency of the home building industry to the end that labor may receive its just and proper reward.

  • MEMBERS shall at all times contribute their knowledge in home building to the best interest of those they serve.

  • MEMBERS shall not knowingly enter into any contract, the terms of which may impair the rights of either labor or the suppliers of material to receive a fair return for services of good furnished.

  • MEMBERS shall not obtain any business by means of fraudulent statements or by use of implications unwarranted by fact or reasonable probability.

  • MEMBERS shall comply both in spirit and in letter with rules and regulations prescribed by law and government agencies for the health, safety and progress of the community.

  • MEMBERS shall be alert to examine proposed or enacted state and local legislation detrimental to social, economic and political progress.

  • MEMBERS shall not perform, or cause to be performed, any act which would tend to reflect on, or bring into disrepute, any part of the home building industry.
